Adrian Migadde’s Biography
Adrian Migadde is a 33-year-old contemporary artist from Uganda who has
had a fascinating artistic journey, shaping his unique artistic identity. After
graduating from Uganda Christian University Mukono with a Bachelor's
degree in Industrial Fine Art in 2013, Adrian specialised in Sculpture, Textiles,
and Painting, laying the groundwork for his multifaceted artistic expression.
Following his graduation, he embarked on a dynamic career trajectory,
balancing his dual passions as a gallerist at Afriart Gallery from 2013 to 2017
while nurturing his creative output. During this period, he engaged with
diverse artists and lent his artistic touch to designing homes and lodges as a
mural artist, subtly honing his craft.
Adrian's dual engagement in curation and personal artistry culminated in
several noteworthy exhibitions both within and beyond Kampala. His
participation in exhibitions like the August 2017 Surface Group Exhibition, the
Colour Group Exhibition in Torino, Italy, and the prestigious Kampala Biennale
in 2018 marked pivotal moments in his artistic career. These experiences
fuelled his artistic fire, prompting him to transition fully into a dedicated art
career and focus wholeheartedly on his artistic endeavours.
His artworks have garnered substantial acclaim, finding homes in renowned
collections across Italy, France, Qatar, South Africa, and notably, within the
esteemed African contemporary art collection of Mathias Gervane Leridon.
Adrian's oeuvre encapsulates the nuances of human experiences and the
depths of emotional landscapes, weaving together personal narratives and
societal reflections. Through his art, he delves into profound themes, touching
upon the complexities of mental health and familial relationships, resonating
deeply with collectors, institutions, and the art community at large.
